Opened in 1892, this civic building housed the offices of the Town Clerk, council chamber and the Mayor’s Parlour.

Built in the Renaissance style with a highly decorated façade. The building is owned by the City Council and the upper floor is run as an arts centre hosting live concerts, showing independent films, art exhibitions and running various classes.

Fun Fact

The Guildhall site was previously occupied by the Bluecoat Hospital from 1668 until 1889.
