Eastgate Portico
Another example of Greek Revivalist architecture, the portico and its large Corinthian columns were built in 1856.
The imposing arches were originally located just west of their current location (they were moved here in 1973), at the then newly built market which housed traders in off-street pitches away from the congestion of Eastgate Street.
