Fleece Hotel
Behind the early 20C imitation timber framed façade lies the former Fleece Hotel which was built around 1500 as one of the Three Great Inns of St. Peter, accommodating pilgrims visiting the remains of Edward III.
Beneath the eastern range lies a very well preserved medieval stone undercroft which would initially have been used as a fireproof storage area by a merchant.
In recent times it was the location for a lively bar known as the Monks Retreat. Acquired by the City Council a few years ago, it is currently on the market.
